Identity in Christ - Hold On to Who God Created You to Be

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.” — Romans 12:2

Don’t let the desperation for someone, some situation, or some relationship to work out be the very thing that stops you from being who God created you to be. When we lay down our God-given identity to accommodate everyone else, we step outside His design for us.

That’s why it’s so important to know your identity in Christ. Your identity in Christ is who God says you are—not who the world labels you to be. It’s the unshakable truth that your worth, purpose, and belonging come from being a child of God—redeemed, loved, and chosen through Jesus. When you accept Christ, you are no longer defined by your past, your pain, or the opinions of others. You are made new.

Jesus never called us to shrink back, conform, or compromise our authenticity just to keep the peace. Instead, He calls us to live boldly in the truth of who we are in Him. When we try to force things to happen out of loneliness, low self-worth, impatience, or frustration, we often end up further from the peace and joy God intends. But as children of God, we are equipped to counter these things with faith, patience, and trust in the Spirit’s leading.

Scripture reminds us in Luke 16:10: “If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones.” This means that the way we manage even the small, daily choices of authenticity, honesty, and integrity prepares us for the greater opportunities and blessings God is bringing our way. When you choose not to compromise your identity—even in small matters—you prove yourself trustworthy for the larger assignments and purposes He has in store.

So today, I encourage you:

Walk in authenticity. Let your words and actions align with who God made you to be.

Pray for release. Ask the Holy Spirit to remove any anger, fear, or striving that weighs you down.

Guard your hope. Don’t surrender your identity to the world’s expectations—hold firmly to your God-given worth.

Remember, you are not called to be everything for everyone—you are called to be faithful to the One who made you. That faithfulness will always bear fruit.I’m praying you walk in boldness this week, with your heart anchored in Christ.

With grace and encouragement,

Coach Ayo
